Growing Groups

Opportunities for young adults and beyond

Worship + 2

We want everyone who calls First Alliance their home church to:

We desire that every person who calls FAC their home church to be IN a group! While our Sunday morning UP corporate worship experience is a great piece of any disciple’s faith journey, it is essential be IN a smaller group where you can grow in your relationship with Christ, deepen your relationships with other believers, and encourage each other to be more like Jesus daily.

Our IN groups are numerous and varied in their aims, but primarily fall into two categories: Growing Groups and Serving Groups. It is our desire that you take part in one of each.

We want everyone plugged IN for growth, discipleship, care, and community!

Emotionally Healthy Relationships

Sundays from 11:00am to 1:00pm
Starting September 15

Emotionally Healthy Relationships (EHR) is an 8-week course taught by Paul and Sharon Clements that’s designed to equip you with practical tools to develop mature, loving relationships with others. Jesus summed up the law and the prophets by calling us to do two things: love God and love people. EHR helps us grow more like Christ in the second great commandment.

The course resources include a workbook, a 40-day devotional guide, and videos developed by Pete and Geri Scazerro of Emotionally Healthy Discipleship. Each session focuses on biblical principles for healthy building relationships, while encouraging deeper growth in your relationship with Jesus by incorporating stillness, silence, and Scripture as daily life rhythms. We hope you’ll join us!

This class costs $40 which covers weekly lunch and class materials. Please note that childcare is not provided.

Inductive Bible Study

Wednesdays at 7:30pm
Starting September 11

Are you satisfied with your Bible-reading experience? Might there be new ways of engaging God’s word that you haven’t yet considered? In partnership with The Word Is Out, FAC will be hosting a 6-week introduction to Inductive Bible Study led by our own Dr. Brad Johnson, a professor whose teaching has been very well received by our FAC College student ministry program this summer. This course is specifically designed for people just like you, and the goal is incredibly simple: to help you become a better reader of the Bible.

An informational pre-class will be offered Sunday, September 8 at 11:00am in the High School Youth Room for anyone curious to know what the class will be like before coming on Wednesday nights.

College Ministry

Starting in the fall, we will go back to our regular schedule of one-on-one discipleship days. I will spend every Thursday in Lexington this year on UK’s campus. I will also be working with the WGM Center at Asbury through the semester, as my wife Katy has just become the Ministry Director there.

Toward the end of the semester, we will dust off our old “Away and Pray” information and set up another evangelism trip. If you are interested in helping or participating in this, please reach out.

Be sure you are subscribed to our Group Me! Reach out to get on the list. Also make sure to follow our Instagram @first_alliance_college to stay up to date everything going on this semester!

Young Professionals Ministry

Enriching community and impactful discipleship are two things that can seem fleeting when you enter into post-college adulthood; it’s not unusual to become overwhelmed when searching for these two vital aspects of the Christian life. Our Young Professionals group is a community of post-school individuals, both single and married, that are pursuing and learning together what it means to follow Jesus. We eat, laugh, study Scripture, praise God, serve our First Alliance family, and reach out to our neighbors together.

During the summer we take a break from our regularly scheduled Bible studies that meet in various home groups and host events for our Young Professionals community at large to have fun together and help foster deep relationships. Sign up using the button below if you would like to join one of our groups!

Questions? Contact Drew Rinehart.

Lift (formerly Secret Sisters)

1 Thessalonians 5:11 calls us to encourage one another and build each other up. LIFT is an intentional community of women that lift each other up in prayer and encourages women through the gift of presence, community and a one time small gift personal gift. LIFT will meet the 3rd Sunday of the month, September through December.

Life to Life

Life to Life’s purpose is helping women grow deeper in our walks with God and each other. We encourage and invest in each other through genuine care and intentional conversation!

There is no preparation or homework with these groups. Some meet in homes; others meet in coffee shops. It is up to the facilitator of the group. We try to offer a variety of days and times that might suit your schedule.

We are also excited to announce that in addition to our regular Life to Life tables we will have two specific Life to Life tables this fall: a single mom’s group and a second chapter group for widows 60 and older.

So if you are yearning for intentional connection through conversation with other women in our church this might be for you! Register now! Groups meet once a month at varying times beginning in September.

Introducing the Women’s Ministry Wisdom Team

This beautiful group of women represents different ages, stages, backgrounds, spiritual gifts, personalities, and ministry service areas and will serve as our new “wisdom team” during this interim time. They represent some of our ministry areas as well as valued wise voices at the table.

As we head into fall, you will see them serving at our Fall Kick-off and in various leadership roles in our different areas of ministry. We are thankful for their “yes!” to serve on this team and their commitment to providing prayer support, a listening ear, and wise counsel as they see the whole of our Women’s Ministry.

Intergenerational Ministry

Newcomers quickly recognize that FAC is a full family church home. That is increasingly uncommon in churches today. We believe this is a gift of God, and that we are called to steward it well. At FAC we are committed to ensuring that every thing we do reflects and builds on this great blessing and strength. It is more than making sure we have programs for every age and stage of life—it is building on the understanding that we are one body, one calling, and one family. Not just multi, but intergenerational in worship, in discipleship, in mission and service.
