Worship + 2

We want everyone who calls First Alliance their home church to:
- Commit to a weekly worship service
- Participate in a Growing Group
- Join a Serving Group
While our Sunday morning UP corporate worship experience is a great piece of any disciple’s faith journey, it is essential to be IN smaller groups where you can grow in your relationship with Christ, deepen your relationships with other believers, and encourage each other to be more like Jesus daily.
Our IN groups are numerous and varied in their aims, but primarily fall into two categories: Growing Groups and Serving Groups. It is our desire that you take part in one of each.
We want everyone plugged IN for growth, discipleship, care, and community!
Life Groups

Let’s do life together! Life Groups offer an opportunity to build meaningful relationships with Jesus at the center. Over thirty groups meet throughout the week, in Lexington, Nicholasville, Wilmore, and Versailles. Scroll down for a list of groups that are currently open. Click on a specific group for more information as to location and meeting times.
Please note that groups will be filled in the order that requests are submitted. Should your requested group reach capacity before you sign up, we will contact you and we will do our best to find you an alternative group to join. Thank you for understanding.

This class will be taught by Pastor Eliseo Mejia.
College Ministry

We love being the “home” church for so many college students! As I start my fourth year here with our college students, the students that we started with are now in their senior years at University. This is an incredible opportunity for us to witness the stories of many students that have walked through their whole college career at First Alliance Church.
The Furnace
Wednesdays, 7:00am
We have been working with the WGM Center on Asbury’s campus to help promote this Wednesday morning prayer group. It starts back up on September 3.

Young Professionals

Enriching community and impactful discipleship are two things that can seem fleeting when you enter into post college adulthood. It’s not unusual to become overwhelmed when searching for these two vital aspects of the Christian life. Our Young Professionals group is a community of post-school individuals, both single and married, in our 20s and 30s who are pursuing and learning together what it means to follow Jesus. We eat, laugh, study Scripture, praise God, serve our First Alliance family, and reach out to our neighbors together.
Throughout the fall, we will meet in various home groups throughout Lexington and Nicholasville on Thursdays at 7:00pm. We share a meal, fellowship, and encourage one another as we walk with Jesus together. The fourth Thursday of each month we host a large group gathering at FAC, bringing all our home groups together for a night of fun and fellowship. These large group gatherings are the perfect place to get plugged in with Young Professionals before attending at home group gathering.
Senior Adult Ministry
Senior Adult Ministry refers to ministries to, for, and with the more senior members of the FAC community. We don’t draw a strict age range (65+?), but this is a vibrant, active, and important segment of our life and identity as a church family.
Senior adults of FAC are actively engaged in leadership in Worship, Adult Education, Children’s Ministries, Life Groups, Guest Services, as well as less visible work as mentors, prayer partners, and support for a variety of servant ministries.
The Lunch Bunch
You are invited to join a group of friends enjoying a casual lunch together on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 11:30. The location varies. Contact Sharon Winkle for more information.
The Gathering
You are invited to a time of fellowship, laughter, encouragement, support, and prayer. Guest speakers and programs round out the evening. Bring a snack or dessert to share, and be ready to be welcomed, encouraged, and inspired!
Women’s Ministry
We are excited for all God is doing in our FAC Women’s Ministry! Our new Wisdom Team, our various ministry leaders, and several of you have shaped our fall ministries, and there is so much to step into this fall.
If you are a woman who attends FAC, consider this your warm welcome to Women’s Ministries. Please contact us with any questions and sign up throughout the year on our app or website for any groups, studies, or opportunities that you think would bless you!

The Bible in a Year: New Testament
One of our key values at FAC is being biblically grounded. Together as a church community we have been encouraging each other to deepen our relationship with the Lord by being in the Word daily. These groups are for people who are continuing their Bible in a Year reading or are ready to jump in alongside others as we begin reading through the New Testament!
Groups will meet in person on varying days and times throughout the week.
Start Here Class (The First Half: God, the Bible, and Prayer)
Sundays, September 21-November 16, 9:30am, Room 205
Are you new to faith in Jesus? Are you wondering what the basics of Christianity are all about? Then this class is for you. Start Here is just what it sounds like, a starting point in your faith journey to explore the incredible God we serve and His Word. We want you to feel equipped and supported as you learn more about who God is and as you explore the Christian faith.
The first meeting will be an introductory time with light snacks. We will provide a Start Here book for attendees. The second half of the class (Identity, Purpose, and You) will begin in January. You can take the class in either order, and you are not required to commit to both to participate.
Events

Women’s Ministry Christmas Event
Thursday, December 4 and Friday, December 5, 6:30–9:00pm
We had such a lovely time last year at our Christmas event that this year we are hosting it twice! Join us for dessert as we share an evening of carols, fun, giveaways, and encouraging stories from a few of our own FAC women.
This is a great opportunity to invite your friends, neighbors, and coworkers to experience the joy of the season with you as we center on the hope we can find even when we and our world feel weary.
Registration is required due to change of event style. Each night will have spots for 200 ladies. Doors will open at 6:30pm for drinks in the Atrium, and the program will be from 7:00–9:00pm in the Sanctuary. We hope to see you there!
Groups
Ascend: A Mentor Ministry
This fall, we will be starting a new mentor ministry for women! Mentors/mentees will commit to one quarter (Sept-Dec) meeting 6-8 times with specific parameters. We are currently accepting applications for the Winter Quarter 2026 starting in January. If you think you would be interested in serving as a mentor or being paired with a mentor as a mentee, you can complete our online application here.
Freedom Group
Thursday nights
This is a new group for women whose spouses have struggled with sexual integrity (infidelity, pornography, etc). This group will meet for 12 weeks and go through a curriculum exploring topics of anger, fear, trust, forgiveness. This group seeks to be a Christ-centered safe place where you’ll be met with understanding, love, and hope. The group meets once a week on Thursday nights.
MomGroup
Third Tuesday of each month at 9:30am

The goal of MomGroup is to encourage each other once a month through community and speakers while providing food and childcare for birth through Pre-K. Moms of any age are welcome!

Life to Life
Life to Life’s purpose is helping women grow deeper in our walks with God and each other. We encourage and invest in each other through genuine care and intentional conversation! There is no preparation or homework with these groups. Some groups meet in homes and others in coffee shops, depending on the facilitator of the group. We try to offer a variety of days and times that might suit your schedule.
After last year’s success, we will be expanding our niche Life to Life table offerings. The following tables will be available this fall:
- Single moms who have suffered the pain of divorce
- Widows over 60 in their second chapter
- Foster and adoptive moms parenting kids from hard places.
- Women who have experienced the pain of abortion (This group will be confidential and members will not be public to other members or viewers of the group in Planning Center.)

LIFT (formerly Secret Sisters)
1 Thessalonians 5:11 calls us to encourage one another and build each other up. LIFT is an intentional community of women that lift each other up in prayer and encourages women through the gift of presence, community and a one time small personal gift. LIFT will meet the 4th Sunday of the month, January-April.
Women’s Ministry Wisdom Team
This beautiful group of women represents different ages, stages, backgrounds, spiritual gifts, personalities, and ministry service areas and will serve as our new “wisdom team” during this time. They represent some of our ministry areas as well as valued wise voices at the table.
As we head into fall, you will see them serving at our Fall Kick-off and in various leadership roles in our different areas of ministry. We are thankful for their “yes!” to serve on this team and their commitment to providing prayer support, a listening ear, and wise counsel as they see the whole of our Women’s Ministry.

Pastor of Intergenerational Ministry
A core strength of FAC is its intergenerational character. Newcomers quickly recognize this is a full family church home. While vibrant groups, programs, and ministries abound for every age and stage of life, we are committed to the integration of all the generations as we worship, learn, grow, and serve to live out our vision, mission, and values.
