Thank you so much for participating in our mentor ministry! We are so excited as you embark on 6 meetings together this term.
Please review the following together and then sign off on it. We want to be sure that everyone is on the same page as we begin this journey. A few other details to note:
– If mentor/mentee meet in an agreed upon public location, it is expected that individual parties will cover their own expenses (coffee, lunch, or other potential expenses).
– Both Mentor and Mentee agree to return emails, text messages and any communication attempts from mentor and/or FAC staff in a timely manner.
The Mentor will:
– Commit to pray!
– Commit to being in the Word!
– Commit to confidentiality unless the mandatory reporting guidelines need to be applied or it would be helpful or necessary for FAC staff members to be aware of a particular situation.
– Commit to have all outside study materials reviewed with the leadership team prior to use. FAC staff, in conjunction with mentors, will do our best to provide any literature or written resource materials (ie, particular book or item of study) a mentor and mentee agree upon to use in a quarter.
– Commit to encourage and love the mentee in whatever season they are in. The goal is to bring mentee closer to God and His purpose in their life.
– Commit to training: Training nights for mentors will likely be once per term. We will also have quarterly gatherings of mentors to share how God has worked over the past several weeks. This time will be used to encourage one another as well.
The Mentee will:
– Commit to be open to hear what God says through His Word about the areas you discuss with your Mentor.
– Commit to meet at agreed upon dates and times as well as to be ready to discuss any agreed upon materials.
– Will honor confidentiality in this relationship as the mentor may share personal life experiences unless the mandatory reporting guidelines need to be applied or it would be helpful or necessary for FAC staff members to be aware of a particular situation.
– Will come with a posture of openness to applying biblical principles and habits to your life realizing time with a mentor is not intended to be for venting, complaining or belaboring critical issues. There are resources available if these are the issues that you need guidance on outside of this ministry.
– Mentee will immediately let FAC staff know if the relationship is not going to be able to endure for the quarter.
– An expectation of open communication is desired from all parties involved and we seek to honor those commitments by communicating needs, concerns, or inability to meet.
