We desire that every person who calls FAC their home church to be IN a group! While our Sunday morning UP corporate worship experience is a great piece of any disciple’s faith journey, it is essential be IN a smaller group where you can grow in your relationship with Christ, deepen your relationships with other believers, and encourage each other to be more like Jesus daily.
Our IN groups are numerous and varied in their aims, but primarily fall into two categories: Growing Groups and Serving Groups. It is our desire that you take part in one of each.
We want everyone plugged IN for growth, discipleship, care, and community!
Growing Groups

Life Groups
We had 21 Life Groups that met this last quarter, and we need more! If you would be interested in learning more about leading a group for fall quarter, please contact Heather Smith for more information. Life Group sign ups will begin on Sunday, August 13.
Adult Education
Relational Wisdom
Sundays at 11:00am starting June 18

Relational Wisdom is an eight week video- and discussion-based course that helps believers obey Jesus’ command to love God and love others more fully (Matthew 22:37–39).
Relational wisdom is your ability to discern emotions, interests, and abilities in yourself and others; to interpret this information in light of God’s Word; and to use these insights to manage your responses and relationships successfully.
Gary Fleck will be teaching this class on Sundays at 11:00am from June 18 through August 6. The class will meet in room 203–204 of the Family Life Center (Gym).
Deeper Walk
Sundays at 11am
The goal of this class is to equip you to pursue spiritual maturity and to claim the spiritual freedom afforded to you in your relationship with Christ. You will explore how Christ gives believers new identities and victory over sin, how to recognize and overcome spiritual deception, how to exercise the authority that God gives all believers, and other specific steps to claiming freedom in Christ. The class meets on Sundays in the Founders Dining Room at 11am with both an in-person and online option.
Young Marrieds & Growing Families
Sundays at 9:30am
If you are a newly married couple or have been married for a while and have a growing family, this class is for you! Join us in the Founder’s Dining Room on Sunday mornings at 9:30am for a class that is aimed at helping you navigate this season of your life with biblical teaching and community.
Open Word
Sundays at 9:30am
This long-standing class is centered around an in-depth study of a book of the Bible and taught by a team of teachers.
Membership Class
Sunday, June 4 at 6:00pm
Are you ready to commit in a deeper way to FAC? If so, membership may be for you! Join us to learn more about our history as a church, who we are and what we believe.
College Ministry
We are blessed to have a vibrant community of college age students and young adults at FAC! We are excited to offer some Christian community for those that are sticking around for the summer and for those students that are returning home to Lexington and FAC for the summer. We will host a small college group in the summer on Tuesday nights at the WGM building at Asbury University led by one of our local Asbury Seminary students, Daniel Moye. We will go through a book and eat some good food together. To get connected to College Ministry and get updates, reach out to Kendall McKee.
Young Professionals Ministry
Thursdays at 7pm
Enriching community and impactful discipleship are two things that can seem fleeting when you enter into post-college adulthood; it’s not unusual to become overwhelmed when searching for these two vital aspects of the Christian life.
Our Young Professionals group will be learning about gospel identity while we eat, grow, and serve the community together. Our group meets on Thursdays at 7pm.

Boomers & Beyond
This ministry is designed for our more seasoned saints (everyone born before 1964) but all are welcome! We get together twice each month when in person gatherings are possible.
The Lunch Bunch
An outing to a local restaurant for food and fellowship. You are invited to join a group of friends enjoying a casual lunch together on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 11:30am. Location varies. Contact Sharon Winkle for more information.
The Gathering
You are invited to a time of fun, fellowship, and prayer on the 4th Sunday of each month at 6pm in the Lower Auditorium. Bring a snack to share and be ready to be encouraged and inspired!
Women’s Ministry
If you are a woman who attends FAC, consider this your warm welcome to Women’s Ministries. Please contact me with any questions and sign up throughout the year on our app or website for any groups, studies, or opportunities that you think would bless you!

Summer Bible Study: Nehemiah
Starting the week of June 11

We are studying the book of Nehemiah this summer! Nehemiah recounts the relationship between a faithful God and His people. It is a story of God’s sovereignty and the power of prayer. It is a story of perseverance and trust in a covenant-keeping God. Ultimately, it is a story that points us to hope found in the gospel.
Small groups will start the week of June 11. Groups will meet varying days and both in person and on Zoom. The workbook is only $5 which is collected at your registration. We have the workbooks here at FAC. We will distribute them on Sunday, May 28 during service transitions. If you cannot pick it up then, contact Susan or Virginia to set up a time to get your book.
Save the Date – Summer Celebration
Friday, August 4
Join the women of FAC for a night of worship and fellowship Friday, August 4 from 6:00-8:00pm at the Stryker’s Farm in Wilmore. Be on the lookout for more information!
Men’s Ministry
Connection and Conversation
Sundays from 8:15-11:00am in Lower Auditorium Room 11
Stop by, grab some coffee, bacon, and eggs, and connect with other guys from FAC. This is a come-and-go time; stay for 5 minutes or 1 hour. We’d love for you to drop by.
Bible Studies
We have a couple different Men’s Bible study options this summer.
- What If Jesus Was Serious About Prayer? facilitated by Bill Cook
- What is the Gospel? facilitated by Ryan White
Men’s Breakfast and Service Projects
Second Saturday at 9am
On the second Saturday of each month, FAC men meet for a breakfast followed by time for doing service projects around the church or in the community. Breakfast is from 9 to 10am and service projects are from 10am to 12pm. Join us for one or both!
After Service Grillin’
June 11 and July 30 from 12:00-1:30pm
We’ll have grills going out in the parking lot—stop, get a burger or hot dog before you head home, and connect with other men! The food will be for everyone so this is a great time to chat with anyone and everyone who goes to FAC.
Cookout & Cornhole Tourney
Saturday, July 22 from 6:00-8:30pm
Food, conversation, and cornhole—a recipe for success. Whether you play or not, we’d love to see you there. This will be an easy way to connect with other men at FAC and engage in some (hopefully) friendly competition!
Serving Groups
Worship Team
If you are an instrumentalist or vocalist and are interested in serving as a part of the worship team, we would love to connect with you. Most worship team members are scheduled one week a month, which involves some personal preparation, a Wednesday night practice, and Sunday morning services. Contact Zeke Friedeman if you are interested.
Tech Team
We have several great opportunities to plug in with tech ministry at FAC! If you’d like to participate in our Sunday morning experience through any of the following positions, we are more than happy to train and equip you to be a part of ministry in a “behind the scenes” capacity.
- Audio: We need some more audio volunteers to run sound for our Sunday morning services. Our audio volunteer is responsible each week for both the sanctuary audio as well as what goes out to the broadcast on all platforms!
- Computer: If you have ever wanted to try your hand at running the graphics on the projectors, your help would be much appreciated! Minimal training is required, but it is an important position that requires concentration and timing!
- Director: We’d love to add a few members to the director team. This team both controls the camera angles and switches between the different cameras that are shown on the broadcast each Sunday. This a very active position and allows for those in our congregation not able to come in person to have a great online experience and also serves as a common way that people check out FAC before attending in person.
- Photography: If you have previous experience in photography or would like to learn, we’d love to have you join this team! We provide you with the camera, you just spend the morning taking pictures of different ministries and moments that take place! It’s a fun way to use your gifts AND see all the different things that go on over the course of a Sunday at FAC.
People in these roles serve one Sunday a month and we’d love to have you! Contact Andrés Donahue for more information.
Guest Services Team
Whether it is serving a cup of coffee, giving a high five at the door, or directing a new family to appropriate children’s areas, our Guest Services Team is ready to serve you every Sunday.
Guest Services is the first point of contact for visitors to our church. We get to partner with what God is doing in people’s hearts and help define their first experiences at First Alliance. We also love to help our church family by answering questions and hosting services!
Most volunteers serve on a monthly rotational basis. Want to join us? Currently we need:
4 coffee bar hosts
7 welcome center hosts
6 ushers
23 parking attendants
We are looking to add 23 parking attendants by the start of the school year. These attendants will serve at one service every other week and direct cars as well as monitor unlocked doors for an added measure of safety.
Curious about what role you may enjoy most?
- Ushers help people find seats and welcome them to the sanctuary. They also record the attendance count.
- Greeters welcome guests and answer questions at our church doorstep.
- Hosts work at our welcome center to greet guests and hand out our FAC gift baskets! They direct guests to different parts of the building for ministries and collect visitor contact info so church staff can follow up with guests.
- Coffee bar attendants host the coffee area, restocking cups and creamers and brewing coffee to ensure a fresh supply all morning long.
- The Parking Team directs traffic flow and ensures our guests and church family have a good experience from the moment they drive on the property. They are also part of the Safety Team.
We give you all the tools and training you need for each of these roles, and times and dates are flexible to fit your volunteer availability. Please contact Bethany Donahue to get started! We look forward to serving with you!
