August Prayer Guide

First Alliance Church, along with 40 other churches in Lexington, have joined together to provide unceasing, 24/7 prayer for the city of Lexington and beyond. FAC has committed to pray on the second Monday of each month for 24 hours. If you want to pray communally there are prayer gatherings on Monday 6:45PM, Wednesday 7AM and Thursday 12PM in the Prayer Room.

Verse of the Month, “Whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” John 4:14

Scriptures are provided to read and pray through along with specific prayer prompts. These scriptures follow along with the sermon series for this month and are meant to guide you with a framework to pray for specific ministries that FAC partners with in our city.You are welcome to pray as the Spirit leads you. Trust the Holy Spirit to give you prayers and scriptures to pray as you intercede.

Together we are believing for God’s miraculous intervention in every aspect of the lives and institutions in our city and beyond!

Psalm 27:13-14, “I believe that I shall see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD!”

Pause

Invite the Holy Spirit to quiet your heart and your mind. Take 4 deep, cleansing breaths. After you still yourself take time walking through this prayer slowly from Psalm 105 about dependence.

“He spread out a cloud as a covering,
    and a fire to give light at night.
40 They asked, and he brought them quail;
    he fed them well with the bread of heaven.
41 He opened the rock, and water gushed out;
    it flowed like a river in the desert.

42 For he remembered his holy promise
    given to his servant Abraham.
43 He brought out his people with rejoicing,
    his chosen ones with shouts of joy;
44 he gave them the lands of the nations,
    and they fell heir to what others had toiled for—
45 that they might keep his precepts
    and observe his laws.

Praise the Lord.”

Praise

What specific blessings and gifts are you praising Him for today?

Isaiah 9:6, “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Prepare

Lord, I am here before you now wholeheartedly, as an instrument of intercession. Insofar as I am also here before you now half heartedly, fuel the fire of my desire. Do whatever it takes to renew in me, an all consuming passion for your name and love for your people. Lord Jesus, open my eyes to receive you. Holy Spirit, soften my heart to receive you. Father God grant me faith to believe that when I pray, you hear and draw near with a compassionate heart. Amen.
