Last week, a group of fourteen from First Alliance went on a mission trip to Clarkston, Georgia, which is considered the most diverse square mile in the country. We partnered with a C&MA site called Envision Atlanta that has several focuses: after-school ministry, ESL, medical care, Envision Acres farm, and Gospel outreach. All of these are simply ways to love their neighbors and be the light of Christ to the nations in Clarkston.
It was a beautiful week of getting to engage with many other cultures and gain a greater picture of what God is up to all around the world. For the first couple of days, we learned more about God’s heart for refugees and the vulnerable and how Envision Atlanta is coming alongside the people of Clarkston. Our team participated in a refugee simulation, where we got a glimpse of what it would be like to be uprooted and completely out of control of our lives, possessions, and more. Throughout the week, we also visited a local Karennian church, helped with an ESL camp, visited the homes of different families in the community, tried lots of different ethnic foods, and visited Envision Acres farm.
Throughout this trip, the Lord moved in many ways. We learned more about the beauty of how God has brought so many nations to Clarkston where the Envision Atlanta team gets to serve as a light. We saw God’s heart for refugees and those who don’t yet know Him.
