For those who are Sad

Psalm 34:18: The Lord is near the brokenhearted; he saves those crushed in spirit.

Psalm 3:3-4: But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, and the one who lifts up my head. I cry aloud to the Lord, and he answers me from his holy mountain.

Matthew 5:4: Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

1 Cor. 1:3-4: Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort. He comforts us in all our afflictions, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any kind of affliction, through the comfort we ourselves receive from God.

For those who are Angry

Ephesians 4:25-27: Therefore, putting away lying, speak the truth, each one to his neighbor, because we are members of one another. Be angry and do not sin. Don’t let the sun go down on your anger, and don’t give the devil an opportunity.

Psalm 139:1-2, 7, 23-24: Lord, you have searched me and known me. You know when I sit down and when I stand up; you understand my thoughts from far away. Where can I go to escape your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my concerns. See if there is any offensive way in me; lead me in the everlasting way.

Psalm 62:7-8: My salvation and glory depend on God, my strong rock. My refuge is in God. Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts before him. God is our refuge.

For those who are Discouraged

Matthew 11:28-30: Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

Isaiah 40:31: But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Habakkuk 3:17-18: Though the fig tree does not bud and there is no fruit on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though the flocks disappear from the pen and there are no herds in the stalls, yet I will celebrate in the Lord; I will rejoice in the God of my salvation!

Nehemiah 8:10: The joy of the Lord is your strength.

For those who are Doubting

Psalm 13:1-2: How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? How long will I store up anxious concerns within me, agony in my mind every day? How long will my enemy dominate me? But I have trusted in your faithful love; my heart will rejoice in your deliverance. I will sing to the Lord because he has treated me generously.

Hebrews 11:1: Now faith is the reality of what is hoped for, the proof of what is not seen.

Deut. 31:8: The Lord is the one who will go before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or abandon you. Do not be afraid or discouraged.”

For those experiencing Broken Trust

Proverbs 3:5-6: Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

Psalm 62:8: Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.

Isaiah 26:4: Trust in the Lord forever, because in the Lord, the Lord himself, is an everlasting rock!

Jeremiah 17:7: The person who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence indeed is the Lord, is blessed.

For those who feel Uncertain

1 Peter 5:6-7: Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, so that he may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your cares on him, because he cares about you.

Philippians 4:6-7: Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Isaiah 40:8: “The grass withers, the flowers fade, but the word of our God remains forever.”

Eph 6:18: Pray at all times in the Spirit with every prayer and request, and stay alert with all perseverance and intercession for all the saints.

John 16:33: In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.

For all of us challenged toward Contrition

1 John 1:5-10: God is light, and there is absolutely no darkness in him. If we say, “We have fellowship with him,” and yet we walk in darkness, we are lying and are not practicing the truth. If we walk in the light as he himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say, “We have no sin,” we are deceiving ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say, “We have not sinned,” we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

Joel 2:12-13: Even now—this is the Lord’s declaration—turn to me with all your heart, with fasting, weeping, and mourning. Tear your hearts, not just your clothes, and return to the Lord your God. For he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger, abounding in faithful love, and he relents from sending disaster.

Psalm 51:10: Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

For all of us who need a reminder that Christ is still on the throne

Luke 24:5-6: In their fear, the women bowed their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, ‘Why are you looking for the living among the dead? He is not here, but he has risen!”

Hebrews 13:8: Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

Heb. 4:15-16: For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way as we are, yet without sin. Therefore, let us approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in time of need.

Revelation 21:3-6: Then I heard a loud voice from the throne: Look, God’s dwelling is with humanity, and he will live with them. They will be his peoples, and God himself will be with them and will be their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; grief, crying, and pain will be no more, because the previous things have passed away. Then the one seated on the throne said, “Look, I am making everything new.” He also said, “Write, because these words are faithful and true.” Then he said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will freely give to the thirsty from the spring of the water of life.
