Life group discussion questions

  1. Before this sermon, what had been your understanding of how God deals with our sin? Has your perspective changed? In what way?
  2. Why do you think it can be difficult to forgive ourselves? What causes us to hold ourselves to an unrealistically higher standard than God does?
  3. Have you ever experienced a period of not embracing or offering forgiveness? If you’ve been able to move past that struggle, what changed in you or around you that moved you into the truth of forgiveness?
  4. Are there past sins or hurts – caused by you or someone else – that you now look back on with peace and seeing how God taught and shaped you through it? Are there past sins or hurts you’re still working through? How has this subject helped you move forward into embracing and offering forgiveness in those areas?
