Our church had a great year in 2010. Below are some of the things that have happened in church life this year.

2010 Highlights

January

  • Started the lower level development of office space
  • Among others, we baptized a visiting scholar from China saved through Alpha and 4 children.
  • Stevie and Jenny Brown go to Middle East Missions forum as part of prep for joining the middle east team in 2012
  • Global Impact Weekend 
  • Leadership consultation in Toronto partner church
  • Completed horse fence for driveway

 
February

  • Alliance Church Planting Seminar in CA, Steve and Gavin
  • New office space nears completion
  • Produced the devotional guide books for Lent and developed an on-line version

 
March

  • Kerry Dorrell worship training and scouting  trip to Toronto Partner Church to set up summer trip
  • Vince and Dolly Mungillos are sent off to Africa as missionaries to serve in guest house ministries
  • Community Easter Egg hunt
  • Stations of the Cross prayer walk


April

  • Spiritual Life Conference here at the church
  • Moved into our new offices
  • Easter Clothing Give away at Russell Cave
  • Pastoral staff attended District Conference in Ohio


May

  • Profiling of partnership ministries Weekend
  • Louella Mitchell, wife of Pastor Fred Mitchell gives her testimony 
  • Prayer and care home visits begin
  • Completed front drive entrance enhancements

  • Youth mission trip to Beefhide for VBS
  • C 3 Camp for our kids at off-site location

July

  • Ordinations of Stevie Brown & Kerry Dorrell
  • Pastor Steve spoke at the Home Assignment Seminar for our missionaries in Louisville
  • 22 kids plus sponsors attended L.I.F.E., our national Youth Conference, in Louisville
  • Youth to Beefhide Youth Camp; Stevie Brown spoke
  • Short term mission Ministry Team to Toronto Partner Church
  • Completed the back stairwell entrance
  • Kerry leaves for 60 day Sabbatical

August

October

  • Global Impact Weekend on Muslims with the Featherlins
  • Food donations for distribution in Beefhide
  • Harvest Party
  • Children's Prayer Retreat at Beulah Beach (14 of our kids went)
  • Stirring testimony of God's grace from Mike Baldwin


November

  • Summit Sunday…raised over $70,000, saving $369,000 in interest as well as cutting 33 months off the mortgage
  • Consultation trip to Toronto Partner Church for Steve, Sue and Phil 
  • Moving healing testimony from Becky Moore
  • Sue Cook transitions from administration to vocational side of ministry life

December

  • Healing service to open the month
  • Children's musical (with regrets over the weather and not being able to take it on the road to Beefhide)
  • New members on the final Sunday of the year will bring us to a total of 21 for the year, the most in one year in the last 10 years.


Our Partnership Highlights



Jerusalem: Russell Cave Church of Christ

  • two clothing give aways
  • one joint summer celebration with pulpit exchange
  • began the after school reading program
  • acquired computers for after school study program


Judea: Beefhide Alliance

  • four food distributions
  • one summer youth camp combined with church repairs
  • one VBS week combined with home repairs
  • two literature distributions and community prayer visits


Samaria: Community Life Church in Toronto

  • three leadership consultation visits
  • one summer work team trip for summer outreach camps and building renovations
  • placement of a summer intern for 3 month summer internship
  • one trip down here for weekend ministry and leadership/administration training


Ends of the Earth: West Africa-FATEAC (the seminary in Abidjan) and Hope Clinic in Guinea

  • raised $11,000 + for dorm project
  • edited/produced the promotional video for that project that resulted in an additional gift of $20,000
  • Fall of 2010 trip to Hope Clinic was postponed and has been rescheduled for Spring of 2011
  • Pastor Steve and Marilyn have been recently invited by the African Regional Director Chris Braun to be part of a on-going consulting/teaching ministry team for the seminary, with a first trip scheduled in March of 2011. Current political unrest is clouding that possibility in the short term.
