Remembering…

Over this past winter and spring we had to take down some old and failing trees on the property. Well, the tree replanting plan is just about in place. We are going to plant about 40 new trees this Fall, partly funded by a city grant for developing green space and partly by us. But we want to add value to and meaning to this project, and here's how.

My own house was built on a good sized vacant lot and I've been planting trees almost every year to add to the landscape. But each of those trees in my yard has a name attached to it...a person whose life I want to remember and celebrate. Family and friends that I have lost over the years and now, though gone, are still greatly treasured in my heart. And they are remembered every time I look out over my yard.

So we want the new trees we plant here at church to have that kind of added value. They will stand like a memorial garden, carefully distributed over the whole property and with the names of those being honored and remembered noted on a plaque in the Founders Dining Room. If you have an interest in remembering someone in this way, drop us an email at the office or let us know on a connection card on Sunday. There will be a menu of trees to choose from and each tree will cost $100. They will be planted this Fall in time to put down good roots for next years growing season. Do you have someone you'd like to remember?

Sponsoring a Tree

We have selected several varieties of trees that grow well in our area and will enhance the beauty of our property, replacing the trees removed early this year, with approximately 40 new trees.

If you would like to sponsor the planting of a tree please fill out the form below. We will contact you with more information when planting season arrives.
