Clothing Giveaway at Russell Cave Church of Christ
Saturday, September 11, 12:00 - 3:00 pm
Russell Cave offers a clothing distribution in their neighborhood each year. We thought we could help out. Gently used fall and winter clothing is due by Wednesday August 25. Household items will also be taken. Items can be dropped off in the church office or inteh container at Guest Services. Additionally, we need help to sort clothing before the event, and help setting up and assiting the neighbors on the day of the event. Contact the church office if you would like to be involved.

Current Community Needs
Lexington Resuce Mission
Lexington Rescue Mission is expanding the program to provide free lunches to the workers at Labor Works. This is an excellent opportunity to serve the poor. The time commitment is early in the morning once a month on Tuesdays or Thursdays. We need men and women. Please call Paul Campbell for additional information. 8596845890
Lexington Urban Gleaning Network
An initiative started last year to pair local farmers and gardeners with with organizations that give food to the poor. They were able to work in association with Seedleaf and God's Pantry, and this year hope to expand to work with the Lexington Farmers market. As they prepare for this year's harvest, they are looking for volunteers who are willing to help glean food from area farms and gardens. The food will then be processed and distributed to those in need in our community.
If you are interested in getting involved, please contact John Walker at igrowfood@insightbb.com.
Equipping Lydia
Would you be blessed by being in a home of prayer with other women of faith - talking and praying and working together for an hour or two every now and then?
Consider helping the ministry of Equipping Lydia -- If you would like to come and help during the week, there is much that needs to be done. Organizing, writing notes, sewing, baking, folding brochures, researching the Internet, praying for the ministry and requests that come in are just some of the day-to-day things that need to be done. Mothers-if you have children, feel free to bring them along.
For the next month or two we are experimenting with having a lead person here at the house who will guide volunteers in projects. Laura Messamore and Allison Ellsworth have scheduled days on the calendar that we are calling "Helping Hands" days. Would you be willing and/or available to come and help on any of these days? Take a look at the calendar at www.equippinglydia.org and see what might fit with your schedule. Laura Messamore is serving as the minister of volunteers for Equipping Lydia.
If you can offer your help, contact Laura Messamore with the days you prefer by sending an email to renew@equippinglydia.org.
Lasting Change
Lasting Change, a free program to help low-income families learn about personal finances, is looking for CPA's to serve as mentors and teachers for the students.
